Rainy Days, Rainy Nights

With over 24 hours of steady, soaking rain we will have seen the last vestiges of rotten snow disappear from the shadows in the woods and along the fencelines. Good riddance. The landscape has basically been bare for the last couple of weeks but here and there you could still spy little pockets buried away. Today while out driving around I passed what are normally small creeks. Not today; in a couple of spots there were rapids - elsewhere they had risen above their banks and created ponds and pools. The stream that runs in back of the house was a screaming torrent cutting at the banks, undercutting brush and trees along it's course.

Tonight the temperature has dropped to near freezing and while I was just outside the rain was becoming mixed with slushy snow. There is no way it can accumulate - way too wet - but I don't like to be reminded that in past years we've had snow for Easter. Yuck!!

To hell with that!! We're driving to Florida!!

Yes, quite long - 1,300 miles. It's usually one of those late night drunken pronouncements that sound great at the time; not so good when you wake up from a black-out a few hundred miles from home and wonder what the hell happened.

I hope the fire danger is being substantially reduced with with some regular rain fall.

Some clear warm weather would be greatly appreciated right about now. Nothing too much but up around the 16C mark sounds good.

Florida...that's where I'd like to be. It's snowing here today. The weather forecast calls for 1-3 inches of accumulation tonight and another 1-2 inches tomorrow. I don't see how it will stick with the ground so wet and warming up enough that the flowers are blooming.

Let's hope this is the end of the snow for this season. *fingers crossed*

:) *mine too*

The weather today sucks and blows all at the same time. Mix of rain and snow that is supposed to get worse into the evening and overnight. Yuck!

Oh, to be lying poolside basking!!
