Jinxed Myself

Back on Wednesday I called to check on Mom and during the conversation I mentioned how lucky we all have been..... that none of us had been sick with colds or flu all winter. After the call I went to lie down for a couple of hours to catch up on some badly needed rest. When I got up.... bingo... the first signs of a cold. Nasally, sore throat, pressure in the ears. DAMN!! That was around 4 in the afternoon; by 8 I was back in bed for the night so I could suit up and show up for work Thursday. I wish now I hadn't worked that day cuz I might have been able to rest away the worst of what I'm feeling now ... days later ... and I'm back at work once again for a new week.

Guess I should have kept my big mouth shut, eh Ma?

Remember: a medicated cold will usually last just 7 days but an untreated one will last a whole week.

lol, quite a distinction.

I'm sorry you were brought low by a virus. That sucks. I just tried to halt my mom from cursing herself yesterday- she said springbreak in Reno they always had beautiful weather.

I said, "Okay, now go outside, spin around three times and SPIT! You just brought down the wrath of the evil eye, you've CURSED spring break."

She laughed at me, but..
she'll see.

there are some things that can shorten the duration of a cold for those with a normal immune system

colloidal silver - at FIRST sign of niggley throat or sinus (or as preventative when everyone else in close proximity to you has it) - hit it hard four times a day

reduce sugar, wheat and dairy (it makes your body acid which bugs love)

hot and cold showers - alternate temps dramatically in shower, ratio 3 to 1 hot cold (1 min hot, 20 seconds cold, times three, finish with cold)

of course all this is in conjuction with a balanced healthy lifestyle including plenty of rest :)

there you go, a blast from the past with my natural therapy practitioner hat on

if it's already got a hold, some of this will help, but it's best to hit it on the head first up

Ha. I re-read that last sentence to see which approach I should use. You got me!

A cold snuck up on me today, as a matter of fact, and I've been bragging about getting through the winter uscathed. Should have knocked on wood.

Wow!! 4 of the 5 Graces commenting on the same post and doing so blindly as they all went to moderation. We're just missing Lea. Thanks to all of you for caring to stop by and comment.

Am - Now I know what to do when I jinx myself next time - 3 turns and spit, eh? Have to remember that. Hope your Mom gets that good weather after all.

Robin - I've found over time that medications simply give me the illusion of being pro-active and any actual positive effects are minimal. So, I stick to ibuprofen and lots of tea.

Kel - I'll have to check about the colloidal silver and try the rest of your advice. The only one I'd have a hard time with is the cold shower bit. Yikes! & chills.

yb - Were you able to choose?? Sorry to hear you're sharing the 'joy' and hope yours is over soonest possible. Makes for a draggy time of it, doesn't it?
