Signs of Spring

Lo and behold..... with all the snow we had I didn't expect to see the lawn until May.... but all our snow has gone except the crusty, icy stuff left in the deep shadowed ditches and woods. In both the front and back gardens bulbs have sprouted wee shoots an inch or so out of the soil. A few of our songbirds are back; cardinals have been around for a few weeks and robins have just arrived. There were a group of 10 or so jumping about on the greenbelt feeding this afternoon. Lots of chickadees and wrens take turns at the feeder. Although lots of geese winter over here their numbers appear to be increasing. Every brook, stream and river is rushing with run-off.

We've had a couple of mild days together so Lynda and I have spent some time in the yard picking up after the dogs and getting the yard raked. Milo, being part Jack Russell, is a digger and a chewer. The yard is still sporting craters from his digging efforts back in the fall. Through the winter he has pruned every shrub and tree branch that he could jump to - quite a height considering the depth of the snow we had. I swear his daddy must have been a beaver; not a dog at all. He eats as much wood as he does dog food.

wow! can Milo teach Wysiwyg to eat wood - that would save heaps of money on the weekly grocery bill :)

i'm enjoying the northern bloggers renditions of spring joy as much as we are enjoying the milder days of autumn here

Robin - :), right back at you! It can't come on soon enough. I was able to sit out and have my coffee on the patio when I got up this p.m. - made it taste even better.

Kel - we've had Milo on a special diet for allergies and it costs a fortune. I hope the allergy isn't to wood!!

I need a pronounciation lesson for 'Wysiwyg' - it looks more Polish than Aussie. How'd you two come up with that one?

'Spring has sprung,
the grass is riz,
anyone know where
the boidys is?'

mr x works in IT
wysiwyg is an IT acronym for what you see is what you get
in ref to things printing or onscreen editing as they appear on the page (like the blogger options html and compose - compose is a wysiwyg editor)

i picked the name of the dog
then had to find the dog to match the name

Oh Kel - You slay me!! From the recent picture you posted I'd have to say you picked the right dog for the name. He / she is a cutie.

Thanks for the info - I'd never have figured that out. Now, about the pronunciation..... (cuz that would be quite a mouthful everytime you called it.)
