R.I.P. Richard Wright

While driving to work this evening I was shocked to hear Richard Wright had died earlier in the day at his home in London, England. Few details were released at his family's request but it was disclosed he died of cancer. He was 65. So far as I now there had been no prior notice that he had been ill.

Wright was a founding member of Pink Floyd, had 2 solo releases, and backed David Gilmour on his 'On An Island' CD and tour. His skills at the keyboard were integral to PF's distinct soundscape.

There were messages posted at both the Pink Floyd and David Gilmour websites acknowledging his passing. Message boards are filling with hundreds of condolence posts from around the globe.
