Art Attack Response
Kel, way over yonder, at Xfacta has posted another Art Attack Challenge which you can visit here: http://xfacta.blogspot.com/2009/03/art-attack-nature.html
It just happened that as I was wandering the yard with the dogs I had noticed some of the colour, texture and pattern in the wood of our shed - headed back into the house for the camera and snapped a few shots. A couple of them turned out alright although the focus isn't as good as I would like. C'est la vie. They are for reference purposes if I ever get my materials out of storage, apply myself to the task and get my hand and mind operating in synch again.
Thanks for the nudge Kel.

textured timber is one of my favourite natural art pieces
i like the way you've captured gritty, grainy. weathered, worn, and then contrasted it in your third shot with smooth and round elements
glad you took the art attack challenge :-)
Hey, Norm, these are cool. Wood amazes me. I think trees are these great mystical things that we would be tempted to bow down and worship if we weren't so commonly used to them.
That last one looks like a giant ready-to-be-squeezed pimple. I love the contrasts in that middle pic. These are cool.
I am still waiting to be art attacked. I am trying to not make it an intellectual exercise but just relax and see what comes up and taps me on the shoulder :)
Kel & Sue - Wood is magical; I love it in all it's varieties, colours and grains.
Had my Mom to a massive hardware store yesterday and we were admiring some large slate slabs that I suppose could be used in a large kitchen or patio. Stone knocks me out too.
Thanks for stopping by Sue - I think you are now my most distant visitor at 10,222 miles. I don't think you can get much further away unless you rocket into outer space.... and we don't want you doing that. Ha, ha.
ummm That first one kinda reminds me of a semi flat chested Wood nymph...umm....ah...well that is all.
Rao
That's a very long way, isn't it!
I'm happy to jet off into outer space if you want. I imagine that would be a great feeling :)
A workmate went sky-diving the other week. She had been terrified beforehand, not sure if she was even going to do it. Afterwards, she was all glossy eyed and swearing for emphasis how f(^@ing amazing it was, LOL. Always wanted to go skydiving, never had the guts :)
@geeker - I see what you're saying now. One breast straight on; one in profile. Gives new clarity on the old saw about 'flat as a board'.
@Sue - No, no we don't want you out in space. Here on terra firma is good. Skydiving is a blast - I did it back around my 30th b'day. Hope your bone structure / density is better than mine tho. Go for it!!
@geeker / Rao - Couldn't resist adding - that's some knotty / naughty pine. Ba-doom-boomp!
Actually I liked how the grain changed from left to right - and at the right if you relate it to painting how it appears that it'd have been applied with a knife in narrow, vertical bands. Kinda cool.
